Power to the people! BAMcinématek and Afro-Punk celebrate five years of rejoicing in the revolutionary spirit of July 4th with six days of film, music, and other events that feature themes of Black power, rebellion, and equality.

SKATE PARK
For the second straight year, the parking lot by BAM will be transformed into a killer skate park, complete with live music, skating and biking demonstrations, and more. CONCERTS IN THE SKATE PARK
From July 4 to 6, the Afro-Punk Festival presents free concerts in the skate park. The skate park is open from 11AM to 10PM with live music all day long. For full information, visit afropunk.com.

AFRO-PUNK BLOCK PARTY

The fifth annual Afro-Punk Festival culminates with the Afro-Punk Block Party, featuring live music, DJs, and DIY fashion, food, and craft vendors. Not the usual street fair, the block party features the best underground and local artists and artisans. Featured musicians include Jon Forte, Joya Bravo, Shinobi Ninja, Maiysha, Hard Hittin Harry, and Rich Medina. For additional information, go here.
