This dynamic virtual dance workshop immerses students in the culture of Rwanda, and gives them the opportunity to learn one of the country’s most famous traditional dances.
In this program students will:
● Watch a dance performance excerpt by Rwandan dance company Inganzo Ngari from BAM’s 2019 DanceAfrica festival
● Learn a version of the same dance under the guidance of BAM teaching artists, who provide drumming accompaniment in a workshop streamed live in the classroom
● Learn what life is like in the capital city of Kigali, and a traditional African call and response
● Engage with Rwandan culture and history through activities included in an online pre- and post-show study guide
This virtual workshop runs 55 minutes, including performance excerpts. Fee: $250
