After going to prison for a crime she didn’t commit, a Filipino woman seeks revenge in Lav Diaz’s class-conscious exploration of personal retribution and uncommon mercy, filmed in startling black-and-white.
Our biannual series, done in partnership with Luminal Theater and Third Horizon, returns for a weekend of richly diverse cinema from the brightest Caribbean filmmakers. The fall showcase features a documentary about a Cuban musical legend; a wandering portrait of Canarsie, Brooklyn; and a shorts program of new work by filmmakers from across the Caribbean and its diaspora.
