Evil Does Not Exist

Takumi and his daughter live in the village of Mizubiki, close to Tokyo. Like generations before them, they live modestly and in accordance with the cycles and order of nature. But when the village inhabitants become aware of a corporate plan to build a “glamping” site near Takumi’s house, concerns arise over the project's potential ecological effects. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Venice Film Festival, Evil Does Not Exist is a striking, quietly fervent cinematic fable from Drive My Car director Ryûsuke Hamaguchi.
