Brian De Palma’s wildly successful screen adaptation of Stephen King’s debut novel centers on a bullied teenager who discovers she has the power of telekinesis.
3 Women
Derived from Robert Altman’s dreams—literally—this psychological drama stars Spacek as a naive nurse in a small California desert town who becomes enamored with her pseudo-cosmopolitan coworker (Duvall). Spacek and Duvall deliver masterful performances as identities blur in this tale of obsession, schizophrenia, and psychoanalytic theory. This Bergman-esque enigma was unavailable for home viewing for nearly 30 years (Altman even stated that the negative had begun to deteriorate) until it was finally remastered and released in 2004.
