Just as visionary and enigmatic as his feature films, this program of shorts includes a modern, comic-book style retelling of ancient myth, a vérité look at the life and times of a group of four year olds, and a young boy discovering life, death, and love in a fish market.

Hukkle
An old man hiccups. A goose goes about its business. Flies buzz. A cat earns its living. A runaway cart causes a stir in the village. In this nearly wordless mosaic of vignettes, György Pálfi depicts the pastoral existences of several human and non-human characters in a Hungarian hamlet—and all the while, a suspicious death bubbles under the surface. Newly restored in 4k, Hukkle, Pálfi’s visionary debut, is finely attuned to the sensual possibilities of both nature and cinema.
