- BAM Film 2024
Based on the 1929 novel by Nella Larsen, Passing beautifully evokes 1920s Harlem, directed by actress Rebecca Hall in her feature debut. The film follows the reunion of Irene Redfield (Thompson), a Black woman, and her white-passing childhood friend Clare Kendry (Negga). When Clare returns to New York with her wealthy white husband, she’s drawn back to the Black community in Harlem which threatens both of their carefully constructed lives.
