Haitian demolition worker Xavier (Atibon Nazaire) makes a living demolishing old houses in Miami’s Little Haiti, dismantling his rapidly changing neighborhood, while his wife Esperance (Sheila Anozier) holds down two jobs to sustain their household. Their comfortable routine is tested when their son Junior (Chris Renois) returns home after dropping out of college. Xavier dreams of buying a new home for his family, but struggles to relate to a son whose artistic aspirations he can’t understand. The feature debut of Haitian American director Monica Sorelle, Mountains earned a Special Jury Mention at the Tribeca Festival, nominations for two Film Independent Spirit Awards, and awards from prominent American film festivals. Co-presented by the Haiti Cultural Exchange.
