Gaviota
Gaviota
Conceived and directed by Guillermo Cacace
Adapted by Juan Ignacio Fernandez from The Seagull by Anton Chekhov
Life resembles the abandoned and worm-eaten stage on the side of a lake in Chekhov’s 1895 play about a group of artists convening at a country estate. In an emotionally charged, stripped down interpretation, five actresses sit around an oversized table and offer an extremely intimate presentation of the Russian playwright’s “spectacle of waste” (The New Yorker). Directed by Guillermo Cacace, the Argentinian company—Muriel Sago, Paula Fernandez Mbarak, Romina Padoan, Clarisa Korovsky, and Marcela Guerty—makes their North American debut with this striking vision of one of Chekhov’s best-known works, adapted by Juan Ignacio Fernández.
Please note that Gaviota is presented in Spanish without supertitles.
