Bang on a Can takes over downtown Brooklyn with their annual Long Play festival, featuring over 50 concerts across three days. With three marquee performances at BAM—featuring Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith, Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills, and Steve Reich’s legendary work Music for 18 Musicians—Long Play is a jubilant celebration of all that music can be and all the people who make it.
3-Day Festival Passes are on sale now! Immerse yourself in more than 50 concerts happening within walking distance at BAM, Roulette, Public Records, BRIC, Murmrr, Irondale Center for the Arts, The Center for Fiction, and outdoors. Single day passes and single tickets are also available.
The full Long Play schedule is now available! See who is playing when and where to plan your entire weekend.
Long Play highlights Deerhoof, Blankfor.ms + Jason Moran + Marcus Gilmore, Ligeti Quartet • Anna Meredith: Nuc, Claire Chase + JACK Quartet, Raw Poetic and Damu the Fudgemunk, Bang on a Can All-Stars performing Ryuichi Sakamoto 1996, David Lang's the little match girl passion, Ekmeles performing George Lewis and Hannah Kendall, and many others.
Long Play 2024 will also feature a spotlight on New York legend Steve Reich, including the Bang on a Can All-Stars performing their own new and dynamic version of Reich’s master-work Music for 18 Musicians, joined by an ever-expanding community of New York luminary performers; Kuniko Kato performing Drumming; The Complete Set of Steve Reich String Quartets, performed by Mivos Quartet; and the premiere of Grand Street Counterpoint, performed by bassoonist Rebekah Heller, with Steve in attendance.
Please note that all Long Play concerts are subject to venue capacity limits.
LONG PLAY is particularly grateful for the generous lead support from the Howard Gilman Foundation, Kettering Family Foundation, ASCAP, Qobuz, and Atlantic Records. This program is also supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council of the Arts.
